LOVE MASK

About Project

The ‘Love Mask’ piece was originally created in 2017, as a reimagining of a 2010 work. The sculpture depicts two figures in spacesuits, tightly connected to each other by several essential tubes. It portrays love as an airtight, closed-loop system, completely isolated from the outside world. While initially viewed as an abstract interpretation, the piece took on new relevance during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Displayed at the ‘Mask/Connotations’ group exhibition at the Baksı Museum in Bayburt, the artwork's message about the symbolic and physical significance of masks resonated more strongly in this period, highlighting the artist's visionary approach.
