About Project

Aykut Erol's work ‘No Boundaries’ was exhibited at the 2017 Venice Biennale. Collaborating with six Istanbul-based designers and one painter in the True/Treu collective, Erol explored the theme of migration. The piece took the form of a nostalgic birdcage, representing the dilemmas faced by migrants in balancing cultural assimilation with the desire to preserve their identity. Through the metaphor of a white dove, Erol illustrated this contradiction, conveying the sense of being trapped by the boundaries we create.
